Oakbrook Church Holy Land Tour 2014

The Oakbrook Church of Reston, VA holds in high regard Jesus’ words to his followers: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”  Accordingly, the church has made the decision to raise up peacemakers from within the church body, to learn what it means to be peacemakers in our world today, and to do the active work of peacemaking both at home and in conflict zones around the world.  As part of this effort, from June 6-15, 2014 Oakbrook Church will be sending its second team of peacemakers to the Holy Land with MEJDI Tours in order to immerse its members within the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so that they can learn more about what it means to be a peacemaker in our world today.  The team will visit many ancient Biblical sites in the Holy Land as well as locations of importance in the modern day conflict.  The members will learn about the root causes and history of the conflict, the rapidly changing strategic geography of the conflict, the effects of fear and mistrust on the people, and important current events.  The group will also meet many of the “living stones” in the land, both Israelis and Palestinians, including religious leaders, politicians, business people, students, war veterans, people adversely affected by the conflict, and active peacemakers.  Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, there will be opportunities to conduct real peacemaking work on the ground including the bringing together of Israelis and Palestinians for the purpose of building harmony and community between them.

Oakbrook Church will be collecting deposits for this tour. If you would like to confirm your space on this trip, please contact Pastor John Moyle. Your deposit check should be made out to “Oakbrook Church”.

Due to enrollment confirmation, we do not advise purchasing plane tickets until after the deposit due date.
