We had a great opening day- even jet lagged, everyone was in good spirits.
We heard three powerful speakers. Alice Shalvi who shared her life story: -telling of her aliyah from England; her excitement as the state was created; her fight for equal rights for women; the awakening of Hitlers horrors on after the Eichman trial;
we then drove to Neve Shalom an inspirational Arab/Jewish secular settlement, dedicated to co-existant in a “one state solution”;
our next speaker was Martin Matisik, a Czech- born child of survivors who never knew he as Jewish until he started tracing his family roots. It was a powerful presentation in the Shadow of the Scroll of fire on Yom Hashoah.
we topped the day off with a trip to an Israeli mall!
Tired but fullfilled,
